MIGLIO BLU: LA SPEZIA FOR NAUTICAL ACTIVITIES
On June 8, 2020, the memorandum of understanding 'The Miglio Blu - La Spezia for the Nautical Industry' was signed by the Mayor of La Spezia, Pierluigi Peracchini, the President of the Region, Giovanni Toti.
Thanks to the adherence of Gruppo Antonini S.p.A., the audience is expanding even further.
In the council chamber of the Municipality of La Spezia, Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini and Simone Antonini, CEO of Antonini Group, have signed the adherence to the protocol.
Also present at the signing were councilor Genziana Giacomelli, Claudio Antonini, Honorary President, and Aldo Manna – Partner & Sales Director of Antonini Navi.
"The entry of Antonini into the Miglio Blu is an important signal for our entire territory and testifies to the goodness of the project that the Administration is carrying out," says Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini. "We are expanding the participation of shipyards more and more with the new adherence, in a project of the highest level so that La Spezia becomes even more the Capital of Yachting." The objective of the protocol is to create a new productive district dedicated to the nautical sector of international relevance, starting from the historical vocation and the strong leadership of the city in the yachting sector. In just over a nautical mile, in an area between Molo Pagliari and Muggiano in La Spezia, the greatest excellences of the world nautical industry are concentrated. In this area, the most prestigious brands in the yachting industry produce yachts and mega yachts.
La Spezia, according to data published by Unioncamere in the "IX Report on the Economy of the Sea 2021," is distinguished as the leading province in Italy for the proportion of businesses in the Maritime Economy sector compared to the total number of active businesses (14% in 2019). The Miglio Blu project, born within the Economic Development Laboratory, has been developed with the creation of a strategic and operational guidance document for the future development of the project, which involved not only the construction sites but also the main institutions of the territory.
Nine working groups have been established on key topics for the development of a nautical district, including: infrastructure, training, and the creation of a recognizable system at national and international levels, also leveraging existing know-how.
A project that will be achievable thanks to the Liguria Region and the support of the construction sites.
Miglio Blu - La Spezia for Nautical, in addition to being an infrastructural intervention aimed at characterizing the road section, encompassing the new Fossamastra Docks and the border with the Municipality of Lerici, is first and foremost a network that connects all operators, a virtuous system of recognition within a complex system where training, research, and industry coexist. Activities and interventions connected to Miglio Blu will also be developed with an inclusive perspective of productive realities connected to La Spezia but located outside the aforementioned road section. In this way, Miglio Blu Project is strengthened, a project that I have always supported and carried forward with the awareness that the nautical sector represents a great potential of our economic reality that needs to be supported and enhanced.
